Satan Summoning His Legions, an 18th century painting by Thomas Lawrence made famous recently by a photograph of Lord Jacob Rothschild and Marina Abramovic posing for a photo in front of it.

The publication of the Epstein Files has had conspiracy theorists celebrating. Not, of course, what the files reveal per se – they’re outraged about that like everyone else – rather, they’re feeling vindicated because, in their eyes at least, the files confirm what they’ve been saying all along about how we are ruled behind the scenes.

Though the narrative has swung hard in their direction, their victory is not undisputed. Segments of punditry still refuse to see Epstein as a lizard person, for the lack of a better term, even if they don’t contest the charges against him, but ascribe them to the evils of human, only-too-human nature, which, everyone must admit, has been known on occasion to reach reptilian depths.

I, too, get sucked into the conspiratorial mindset now and then. I, too, am only human…
